BBC Children’s and Education commissions third and fourth series of Balamory as successful return brings families together

The BBC has commissioned two further series of Balamory following the success of its long-awaited return more than 20 years after it first captivated preschool audiences across the UK.

 The recommission for series three and four comes as the new series continues to build strong momentum with audiences. The first episode of the new series, One-Man Band, launched to1.5m in 28 days. This makes it the biggest new CBeebies episode of 2026 so far and underlines the enduring appeal of the much-loved brand for a new generation of viewers and their families.

 Balamory, produced for the BBC by Lion Television Scotland, an All3Media company, focuses on community, kindness and problem solving. These themes have resonated strongly with audiences and reflect the BBC’s commitment to creating content that supports and reflects positive early years development.

 Kate Morton, Senior Head of Commissioning for CBeebies said: “Balamory has always been about community, creativity and helping children understand the world around them. Seeing it return and connect so strongly with audiences, both those discovering it for the first time and those who remember it so fondly, has been incredibly special. This recommission is a testament to the enduring power of children’s media make lasting memories and promote kindness, inclusion and togetherness.”

Balamory is available now on CBeebies and BBC iPlayer. Series two of Balamory will air later this year.
