Radio Times Spotlights Rich Lives , Poor Lives

Ahead of the return of Richer Times, Poorer Times, Radio Times has highlighted the new series, shining a spotlight on its compelling exploration of Britain's social history through the lives of both the wealthy and the working class, describing the series as "a nicely accessible way to bring history to life."

Presented by Rob Rinder and historian Ruth Goodman, the four-part series revisits pivotal moments from Britain's past, revealing how major historical events transformed the lives of people on opposite ends of society. By weaving together the stories of those who prospered with those whose labour often went unseen, the series offers a fresh and engaging perspective on history.

The feature previews the opening episode, which explores the Victorian railway boom. Rob follows the remarkable rise of railway entrepreneur George Hudson, whose ambitious investments made him one of Britain's most powerful businessmen, while Ruth uncovers the harsh realities faced by the navvies who built the railway network under dangerous and often unforgiving conditions.
