James is a development producer at Lion focussing on specialist factual and documentaries - from history and science to access series and drama-docs - for the UK, US and SVOD markets.
Before joining Lion he led Arts development at BBC Studios, securing over a dozen commissions ranging from Paddington: The Man Behind The Bear (BBC2), The Celebrity Big Painting Challenge (BBC1), Edinburgh Nights with Nish Kumar (BBC2) to the Werner Herzog feature documentary Nomad: In The Footsteps of Bruce Chatwin (BBC2). Previously he developed and produced projects at a range of indies on subjects from the war in Afghanistan to Queen Victoria’s children, Jeremy Paxman on Churchill to a biopic of David Hockney, the general election debates to the science of dinosaurs.
